ALPHARETTA,
GA – FiberLight, LLC® President and COO Kevin B. Coyne will serve on the COMPTEL
Board of Directors following his election this month during the organization’s
annual meeting in Dallas, Texas.
COMPTEL is a
leading communications industry association representing service providers and
suppliers through trade shows,
networking, education, and policy advocacy before Congress and the Federal Communications
Commission. Mr. Coyne was elected to represent competitive
telecommunications providers and will serve on the Audit Committee. Board members determine COMPTEL’s direction
through the establishment of policies and bylaws, while the Audit Committee
provides oversight of the organization’s accounting practices.
Mr. Coyne attributes his board selection to 10 years
of experience in the public accounting field as a Certified Public Accountant
as well as his vast knowledge about competitive communications service
providers and supplier partners. As a board representative, Mr. Coyne would
like to encourage the organization to further meet the needs of all competitive
telecommunications providers.
“I am excited about the
opportunity to represent COMPTEL business members on the issues that directly
affect us. For instance, if our business
representatives want to own and operate our own facilities, rather than compete
against the large entities, we need to learn how to eliminate the incumbent
from the last mile and work more cohesively as a group to achieve that goal,” Mr.
Coyne said.
FiberLight Founder and CEO Michael P. Miller is pleased his company’s
leadership is taking a more active role in determining industry policy.
“COMPTEL serves as
a much-needed educational and networking resource for the telecommunications
industry, while being a strong advocate for our industry,” Mr. Miller said. “I
believe Kevin offers the leadership experience necessary to benefit
telecommunications suppliers and providers, while providing a voice for the
membership group.”
