FiberLight,
LLC, a leading provider of metro optical solutions, has opened a new metro
fiber market in the heart of Waco, home to Baylor University. FiberLight has extended its statewide presence
in Texas with the addition of 20 miles of 96 count fiber network purchased
through an agreement with Consolidated Communications, ranked 13th
nationally among independent telephone companies.
“The Waco
fiber network gives FiberLight the ability to serve all major enterprise and
collocation customers in the Waco Central Business District (CBD), while
allowing for greater access through the provision of TXU Communications
assets,” said David Harral, General Manager of Consolidated Communications.
The
additional network capacity extends FiberLight’s growing 1,200-mile long-haul
Texas network, while providing customers with high bandwidth transport
solutions at speeds up to 10 Gigs per second. The Waco network purchase also addresses
FiberLight’s core business strategy of building its network presence in growing
areas, said Judd Carothers, FiberLight’s Vice President of Operations and Construction.
“FiberLight is excited about expanding into another growing Texas city, which
greatly complements our existing robust footprint. The FiberLight Waco network
will allow for the full suite of metro optical transport including Ethernet,
SONET, Wavelength, IP and Dark Fiber connectivity.”
“With this
acquisition we can offer redundant and secure transport for those businesses
interested in a cost-effective transport solution from Waco to Dallas and
beyond,” Mr. Carothers said. “And, because
this new network is on a diverse path, we can offer alternate points of
presence for customers requiring high bandwidth transport of information
between buildings, data centers and cities.”
